Emergency Paediatric
First Aid
Intended Audience
The Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is intended for individuals who care for infants and children, including childminders, nursery staff, preschool and school personnel, babysitters, parents, guardians, and carers. It is particularly suitable for those working in early years settings who require emergency paediatric first aid training to meet the requirements of the Ofsted and the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. The course provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond to emergency first aid situations involving infants and children.
Course Aims
This qualification has been developed in collaboration with members of the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF). It meets the requirements for emergency paediatric first aid training as set out within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework documentation.

Qualification Validity
This Course is valid 3 Years from the issuing of the certificate
Course Entry Requirement

No prior knowledge, skills, understanding or qualifications that are required to undertake this qualification.

Learners should be a minimum of 14 years to undertake this qualification.

Learners between 14-16 years can undertake the qualification, however they should not be relied upon by employers to be a sole emergency first aider.

Learners must have sufficient command of the English language to understand and undertake the recommended assessment methods for this qualification.

Learners must demonstrate first aid procedures as part of their assessment, including providing CPR to a casualty on the floor. Therefore, learners must be physically capable of performing CPR on the floor.

Identifying and treatment of hypovolaemic shock
