Benedict's Law and Schools

Schools have a vital role in ensuring staff are prepared to respond confidently during medical emergencies. Our First Aid Training courses are designed to help teachers, support staff, volunteers, and community groups develop essential life-saving skills, including CPR, AED use, choking response, and emergency first aid. In line with Benedict's Law and growing expectations around emergency preparedness in educational settings, this training helps schools create a safer environment for pupils, staff, and visitors while promoting confidence in responding to critical incidents.

Benedict's Law highlights the importance of ensuring that schools are prepared to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies. Under the principles of the law, schools are encouraged to have appropriate emergency plans in place, access to a functioning Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and staff who are trained to act quickly when a cardiac arrest occurs. To meet these responsibilities, schools should provide regular first aid, CPR, and AED awareness training for teachers, support staff, and other personnel who may be required to respond in an emergency. First Aid Training helps educational settings build confidence, improve emergency response times, and create a safer environment for pupils, staff, and visitors by ensuring life-saving skills are readily available when every second counts.
